Definition of Quantum Physics

This series of articles is brought to you by Optimal Modification, Inc. (also known as OMI). The founder of OMI, Dr. Thom Rogers, is a pioneer in the field of aligning businesses (and all their aspects) to the quantum field, so that these businesses may experience their full potential.

Definition of Quantum Physics / And the Law of Attraction

Do you know the Definition of Quantum Physics? I don't mean to put you on the spot, but the purpose of proposing this question is to illuminate and open your mind to possiblities. What if I told you that the concepts of Quantum Physics and the secret law of attraction were integrated? And what if I told you that by understanding how these concepts work together, you would be able to attain optimal success in your business and personal life?

Definition of Quantum / Optimal Alignment

What is optimal alignment and what does that have to do with the basics of Quantum Physics? So glad you asked. In case you didn't know, this site was created because we had the desire for a life of greater freedom-a freedom that allowed an opening for happiness and wealth to enter into all aspects of our lives. Our journey lead us to explore how we could get ourselves out of undesirable situations.

So the first step was to learn how to change the way we looked at life. We also had to look at the part we played in creating what we were experiencing. This page, The Definition of Quantum Physics is part of the piece of the puzzle. It lends science to an other-wordly view point. And we thought it was important to share all the different sides and dimensions of our journey, so that you could truly benefit. Make sense? Excellent. Then we are ready to proceed.

Definition of Quantum Physics / Unraveling the theory

Many a student no doubt experienced something akin to mental constipation while studying Quantum Physics. What is this concept really? How do we come up with a definition of Quantum Physics and come close to understanding this topic without getting our brain cells in a knot?

The subject of Quantum Physics is so complicated and revolutionary that it prompted Niels Bohr, one of the pioneers in the study of this concept, to remark: "Anyone who is not shocked by quantum theory has not understood it". Many respectable physicists have got into heated discussions while coming up with individual interpretations that seek to invalidate those of the others.

For the rest of us with non-scientific minds, analyzing the theory of Quantum Physics can put our brain into a catatonic state, so much so that whenever we would encounter something so mysterious and difficult in class—whether it was related to physics or other subjects—we would usually say: “It’s Quantum Physics.”

Definition of Quantum Physics / What is reality?

But study Quantum Physics we must especially because the facts offered by this theory are helpful in understanding reality as we (don’t) know it. Hopefully, the following definitions of Quantum Physics will be able to reduce (somewhat) this rather complicated subject into words.

  • According to The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, “it is the branch of physics that uses quantum theory to describe and predict the properties of a physical system.”

Not quite there, is it? Let’s try this definition of Quantum Physics from Answers.com:

  • Quantum Physics or Quantum Mechanics deals with the “Quantum theory, especially the quantum theory of the structure and behavior of atoms and molecules.”

So, Quantum Physics dissects the behavior of atoms and molecules? We’re getting there.

Let’s check out another definition of Quantum Physics, this time by the Science Dictionary:

  • It is “the branch of physics that deals with the behavior of matter at the level of the atom, the nucleus, and the elementary particle. At this level, energy, mass, momentum, and other quantities do not vary continuously, as they do in the large-scale world, but come in discrete units, or quanta.”

It’s becoming a little bit clearer, but there are gray areas still. The word “quanta” in the preceding definition, by the way, means inconspicuous or unnoticeable. Now, let’s see how the internet know-it-all, the Wikipedia, come up with its own definition of Quantum Physics.

  • According to Wikipedia, Quantum Physics “is the study of mechanical systems whose dimensions are close to the atomic scale, such as molecules, atoms, electrons, protons and other subatomic particles...The effects of quantum mechanics become evident at the atomic and subatomic level, and they are typically not observable on macroscopic scales. “

Cite Sciences offers this definition of Quantum Physics:

  • “A theoretical framework offering a detailed description of physical phenomena, especially on the scale of elementary particles. Quantum Physics is a set of theories developed in the 20th century to describe the infinitely small (atoms and particles), as well as certain properties of electromagnetic radiation. Its laws often radically contradict the traditional laws of physics. For instance, it is impossible to simultaneously determine both the position and speed of a particle with certainty.”

Here’s the definition of Quantum Physics from the Computer Desktop Encyclopedia:

  • “The branch of physics developed in the first part of the 20th century that was highly successful in explaining the behavior of atoms, molecules and nuclei. Developed between 1900 and 1930 and combined with the general and special theory of relativity, it revolutionized the field of physics.

The new concepts, which were the particle properties of radiation, the wave properties of matter, quantization of physical properties and the idea that one can no longer know exactly where a single particle such as an electron is at any one instance were necessary to explain all of the new experimental evidence that was available at the time.

For example, quantum mechanics explains the behavior of semiconductors which are used to make the myriad devices we use every day.”

From the above definitions of Quantum Physics, we can glean the following facts:

  • Quantum physics deals with the very small objects that are not seen by the naked eye.

  • These microscopic objects behave both like particles and like waves (wave-particle duality). Particles are defined as localized phenomena (restricted to a specific place or area) that transport both mass and energy while moving from one place to another.

Wave, on the other hand, tend to spread out in space; they carry energy but they don’t transport mass.  For example, the grains of sand are particles, while the ripples on a body of water are waves.

  • These particles move randomly or unpredictably, meaning, we cannot predict their position or momentum at the same time. It’s like these particles have a mind of their own and know they’re being studied and, just to torture the observer, they move around freely while seem to be saying, “Catch me if you can.”

  • The reality in the atomic level as observed in Quantum Physics is unlike the reality we see around us. This particular truth offered by Quantum Physics is used to interpret the power of the mind to influence events.

Definition of Quantum Physics / It's really very simple

Studying how this concept works (or even trying to make sense of the definition of Quantum Physics by varied sources) can be frustrating especially for those whose minds are not wired like Bohr’s or Albert Einstein’s, but it offers fascinating facets of life that are otherwise unexplainable. It is when viewed in the context of deeply understanding the role and influence that human beings have in the larger scheme of things that the applications of Quantum Physics become truly rewarding.

Definition of Quantum Physics / Conclusion

No matter how you choose to unravel the mysteries of how the Universe works and how we can work with the Universe to improve our lives, there is no doubt that the benefits will be far-reaching. Not only will you be less affected by life's daily stresses, you will be in an optimal position to attain prosperity in your working life as well as your personal life.
