Stress Relief Meditation for a Healthier Lifestyle

We all desire a healthier lifestyle, and we know that stress affects our health. So we cherish that vibrant energy we have when we are healthy and relaxed. Not only do we feel and look better, it has long-term benefits that help us to live a longer and more fulfilling life. Stress relief meditation can be a wonderful addition to your arsenal to help live a better lifestyle. And if this practice becomes a daily ritual it will help to combat not only stress, but the symptoms of stress.

Stress and Meditation

What are today’s major stressors and what kinds of stress do they produce? Not enough time? Money? Unfulfilling workplace environment? Declining health? Stress relief meditation can offer you a way to break through the chaos and enter into a stronger alignment with the quantum field (the field of infinite possibilities). It is in this place of alignment that bad stress dissapates and powerful creative energy is able to help in the manifesting process.

Benefits of Stress Relief Meditation

Stress relief meditation is a relaxation technique that uses concentration and breathing techniques to calm and move yourself from a stressful place to a more tranquil one. And it has many benefits aside from reducing stress.

Other benefits include maintenance of holistic health, helping with overcoming addictions, aid for healing processes, improvement in memory, learning and concentration, increase in confidence and motivation, and many others. Although this relaxation technique may take some time and practice to perfect, it's free, easy to learn, always available and highly effective.

How to Practice Stress Relief Meditation

It is recommended that you practice meditation often, preferably every day, so that you can master its techniques. You can start with 5-10 minutes a day, then work your way up to longer periods of time. Choose a place that is quiet, comfortable and free of distraction.

  1. Sit comfortably in a chair, on the floor, mat or pillow. It’s important that you are comfortable, and that in whatever position you choose you can sit with your head and back straight.

  2. Close your eyes, sit quietly and breathe easily through your nose.

  3. Release whatever thoughts you have in your mind. “Let go”, and focus on your own breathing.

  4. Stress relief meditation can be done in many ways. Here are 3 to choose from:

    1. Focused BreathingSimply focus on your breathing – inhaling and exhaling. Focus on inhaling and exhaling in regular intervals. Focus on its soothing nature, its sound, and its path as it goes in and out of your body, and fill your thoughts with whatever you observe. Sometimes, your mind may wander, especially during your first few sessions. When you begin to drift, simply bring yourself back to concentrating on your breathing patterns.

    2. Object Concentration This method makes use of a certain object that you recognize as relaxing. It can be a candle, a photo of nature (falls, rainforest, water, etc), or a peaceful setting, such as a quiet beach near sunset, or a hilltop overlooking the city. Stay with the focused breathing in the previous step, but with the goal to concentrate on the object and erase all other thoughts from your mind.

    3. Chanting a Mantra This is what most would probably correlate with meditation where you see someone sitting cross-legged on the floor and repeating the mantra “OM” over and over again. You can also use other word or sounds as your mantra. Choose positive, or relaxing words, like “peace, or love” or choose a sound that you resonate with. Concentrate and repeat your chosen word. Forget about all other thoughts and focus on your chosen word all throughout your meditation.

Stress Relief Meditation / Conclusion

No matter what technique you choose to relieve stress, the benefits will be far-reaching. Not only will you be less affected by life's daily challenges, you will be in an optimal position to attain prosperity in your working life as well.
