What is Success
This series of ‘success articles’ is brought to you by Optimal Modification, Inc. (also known as OMI). The founder of OMI, Dr. Thom Rogers, is a pioneer in the field of aligning businesses (and all their aspects) to the quantum field, so that these businesses may experience their full potential.
What is Success / That Which We Seek
What is Success? Most individuals dream of achieving some kind of success. But how does one define success? For those who do work toward success, this means that they have a concrete idea of what success - authentic success - is for them.
If an individual’s vision of success involves owning a dream car or reaching a certain dollar amount in a bank account, no one has the right to say that is not a legitimate idea of success.
However, if you look at success stories of entrepreneurs you may uncover a deeper appreciation of success. Entrepreneurs who have built businesses up from nothing will reveal a very different meaning of success.
The good news is the definition of success is personal. Therefore, there are no wrong answers and no two journeys to get there will be exactly the same. However, within the realm of success certain elements always seem to be there: a feeling of optimism and happiness from the work, providing great customer service, a flow of creativity that allows for fresh ideas, and a bond of trust that inevitably is built with the customer.
What is Success / The Happiness Factor
But wait - What is happiness...and what is optimism, and how do they fit in?
What makes one happy and what enables one to feel accomplished and able to share his accomplishment to others is his own valid measure of success. Optimism means that you have confidence that you will reach your goal, but you are also enjoying the journey.
In short, success depends on one’s goals. These goals, after all, will help the person strive for success and know that he has arrived at his destination. An entrepreneur who has put his skin in the game, and came out on top has experienced this type of success.
It’s easy to assume what a business owner’s success markers are – increased sales every year and a bigger market share than one’s competitors. While these are both great, a business owner can look into other goals, such as what we will briefly discuss below.
What is Success / Do you provide excellent customer service?
Whether you run a business with your spouse or you have a team of people working for you, it is imperative to be aware of the service that you are providing for your customer. This may sound like 'obvious' advice, but it's amazing the number of businesses that forget the philosophy of excellent customer service.
Imagine operating a website in which you sell cool gifts. Your customer comes to you, inputs his credit card information, and patiently waits for his gift so that he can wrap it up and then send it off to a loved one. A week passes and not only has he not received his gift, he has not even received an acknowledgement that his order was processed.
Then let's say he emails... 5 days later... and still he gets no response.
The next day the customer calls... the phone rings, your voicemail comes up, and he leaves a message. 2 days later... they get no response.
Then 3 days after he leaves a message the package arrives. What kind of impression do you think this online gift store has left on this customer? Even though your customer's package arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and it looks good, do you think this customer will use this online gift store again?
The short answer is "It's not likely."
If you don't treat your customers with the attention and respect they deserve you won't have a business to run - it's as simple as that.
What is Success / New Ideas
Do ideas flow as readily and steadily as your morning coffee?
Do you have a firm grasp on the definition for marketing?
A growing business is not one who sticks to methods that are tried and tested. To constantly develop and evolve, a business - whether it is brick and mortar or an online business - has to keep on improving and thinking of ways to make the business even better.
Have you ever tried run a viral marketing campaign, or implemented other customized marketing solutions? Do you keep abreast of the latest advertising techniques? Do you know how other successful companies have big wins, and do you see the value in looking at a company's plan - like Starbucks marketing strategy?
Are there new promos that can attract new customers? Are there new marketing tie-ups that will result to more exposure? Are there existing resources that can be maximized to improve profit?
Success also comes from riding the wave. What we mean is that no matter how tough the economy can be, successful businesses do not merely survive, but thrive with the use of innovative promotions and marketing. Being creative and innovative can take one closer to success.
What is Success / Do you and your business garner trust?
A huge part of building trust is establishing a brand for your business.
Brand building is not reserved for the multinational companies. A trusted brand can also be for small to medium businesses. One of the determining factors of success is how your business becomes the brand. What does this mean? See the section below for the answer.
What is Success / 7 Questions You Should Know the Answer To
Let me answer the above-mentioned query by posing some relevant questions:
1. What does your company stand for?
2. Are you committed to serving a particular segment of the population? Who is that?
3. How does your business go above and beyond?
4. What do you offer your customer that is valuable and free of charge?
5. Does your website have pages that sell or inform?
6. How does your business make the world a better place?
7. When someone thinks of your company what image comes to mind?
Let's say you own a bike shop - both online and off, your purpose is to promote trust through branding. The company, Cerve'lo does this in a superior way. They have followed a philosophy that we here at OptimalModification.com wholeheartedly adhere to; that is to supply many valuable pages of relevant content. They also provide a polished documentary on the homepage of the web site that brands the professionalism they demonstrate - all without the hard sell.
Branding with consistency and ingenuity not only builds trust, it demonstrates viral marketing at its best.
